The soap dish has been previously restored due to breakages. Rivets are present in the base and lid; the use of additional adhesive is not apparent. 

There are chips along the break edges and a small loss to the rim of the base. Some decorative detail and gilding has been worn away. 

In current treatment, previous restoration is being removed and the ceramic surface fully cleaned. Areas of loss will be filled and missing decoration replicated. Full imagery and treatment details will be available on completion.

This earthenware dish has not been previously repaired in any way. Its surface is extremely dirty, with what appears to be organic staining (pictured left). Some original material has been lost, and running cracks are a concern across the body. 

The planned treatment will include a full clean, stabilisation of any cracks and the replacement of lost material. Detailed retouching will be applied to all replacement areas.
