Ming Dynasty Chinese Stem CupThis porcelain cup is decorated with an underglaze depiction of acquatic plants and shells with the addition of four flying horses positioned within the inner bowl. Currently residing at the British Museum, this is one of many beautiful examples from the 'Sir Percival David Foundation of Chinese Art' Its conservation requirements were mainly aesthetic; the build up of dirt within cracks in the glaze were distracting. This staining was reduced through a mixture of poulticing and steam cleaning treatments. |
